This round was used by the Royal Navy as a line throwing blank. It is loaded with a cordite charge (44 grains) with a 1 grain tuft of gun cotton at the top and bottom of the charge. The case is closed with an inverted cardboard cup sealed with shellac.
Identification is a fully blackened case and the headstamp: RG 54 H MK2
